I think I know what you mean...

You are unable to connect to your DNAS (server)? In the DSP, it goes from saying Connecting.. to Disconnected?

Do you have a DNAS (SHOUTcast server) installed?

If so, did you change the DNAS variables srcIP and destIP from ANY?

Is your DNAS and Winamp/DSP combo on the same machine?

What exactly are you entering for "Address" and "Port" in the DSP?

i'm not sure what his situation is, but it's the only one i've seen while searching the forums that matches mine...

yes, i'm running DNS and Winamp/DSP combo on the same box. i've set the IP address as localhost.

it just keeps connecting and disconnecting constantly... if you have any suggestions... i'm really sure it's something i'm missing, since i get the same results on two different machines....

It has to work just with the default values, localhost/8000/changeme If you want to make it simple, reinstall the DNAS and the DSP and don't change anything, just press connect.

Dude, that's totally normal. It's the shoutcast bots connecting to your stream to make sure it's up and running so if it's not, they can take it down from the listing. Fret not!

...or I could be totally wrong.

erm... so if i go with the default at port 8000, theoretically, i should be able to open my winamp url to http://myip:8000 and listen to a stream?

i'm running tcpview to check active listening ports, and it's just not there... nor can i connect to it via winamp.

btw, thanks for all the help!

it might help if you include your ip address. Don't worry. I have no interest in hacking you. Nor could I.
