What type of water tastes best?

I was wondering why sparkling water brands like Perrier were so sucessful, seeing as all you can taste in them is the gas. So I thought I'd put it to the vote.

they did a test in the Netherlands and went to pubs, restaurants etc to order water.

in several restaurants they were served tap water with a little co2 in it, but paid for the expensive perrier (and other brands)
and couldn't tell the difference in taste.

I think it's a waste of money to buy water in bottles when the tap water ( in the Netherlands) is just as good.

Actually, distilled water is horrible. It's the minerals dissolved in tap water and bottled waters that make them taste like what you know as water.
In the lab we also have deionized water, which is like super-distilled water. It' not very nice.

I absolutely hate the taste of minerals in water. That's why I drink RO. Its totally flavorless. Distilled has flavor - this doesn't. If you've never tried RO water try an Aquafina.

I have to agree with you K_rock. Down here in the south the pizza sucks, Dunkin donuts coffee is not the same, and you cant find a good bagel or sandwich to save your life.

I get my water from juices and fruits -- I rarely drink just water, unless I get a craving or there's nothing else.

I personally like distilled water because of it's tastelessness. The tap water around here is pretty hard (chocked full of impurities), and it just has a phony, harsh aftertaste to it. Distilled water goes down with no distinguishable taste, just the refreshing sensation of liquid H20 filling up your mouth. Call me weird, but I like distilled water the best.

Ask xzxzzx: What does that mean? If you are implying RO water is distilled, you are very wrong. And it tastes totally different. Distilled tastes like the pot it is boiled in. Reverse Osmosis water is flavorless.

If you are implying that all water ends up as Zephyrhills, I'd believe that - it tastes like its been used.

Yes, but it seems to me that it has a slightly different taste to it... it could be a placebo effect of sorts.
