Interesting news, but don't we already have AMD64 optimized LAME builds?

I think we'll see a lot more A64-optimised builds of things once XP x64 is released - until it comes out officially, people just ain't gonna bother.

I have a I'm-not-a-geek question: will NO 32-bit sofware work on a 64-bit OS?

Most 32-bit software should work, just as 16-bit programs work on 32-bit OSs. They just won't have the same speed-advantages of pure 64-bit programs.
