receiving a broadcast
Dear all, being a rookie at this please indulge me with your patience!
A friend of mine from the states is trying to stream me an NSV video/audio - however when I connect to his IP all I get is the audio.... I'm using WINAMP5.05. Apparentely (and i dont know whether this helps) i show up on his server as some sort of mpeg connection rather than an NSV...... Help! System details are: Pentium 4 3.06ghz WinXP Home 512mb RAM RADEON 9000 Anything else I need to provide? if so can you tell me where to find the info!! All help gratefully received! |

don't be concerned with the user agent being reported by shoutcast. If all you get is audio then the broadcaster either hasn't setup his encoder to capture video, or has forgotten to configure the Video portion of the NSV encoder or he is using a video codec not supported by your player.

KXRM,
thanks for the reply really appreciate it - so you think it may be his end? I've got Gspot - but dont know how to use it to identify a codec for a stream? |

Hi everyone:
What version(s) of the VP video codec do you have? Do you have the decoder for the codec he's using? If you don't, that's most likely your problem. In other words, if he's using VP6 to encode and you don't have the VP6 decoder to view the broadcast, then you need to go to http://www.on2.com/ and download it. Hope this helps ![]() Cheers for now

too bad the vp6 decoder for windows there doesn't mean crap for winamp
get winamp 5.03+ (5.05 will do) to cure that problem. Originally posted by yeshuawatso :...get Nullsoft to [accept] new moderators? ... election? ... If Inedible Bulk is the candidate, then I give my vote. |

Hi everyone:
I stand corrected if I'm wrong here, but I don't believe ANY version of Winamp has VP5 or 6 bundled with it. I'm pretty sure that the VP6 decoder is a seperate download. But again....I could be wrong ![]() Cheers for now

Just an FYI...He was trying to connect to me with <host>;stream.nsv/. That final backslash will not start the NSV player.
BTW I downloaded the VP6 encoder off of Ken's site. |
