A9-toolbar for mozilla/firefox
I've been using amazon's new search engine www.a9.com instead of google for maybe eight weeks, it gives the same results as google (licensed google tech), but it has interesting features, like the amazon-based login that remembers what you search.
And the toolbar is now available for firefox. What do you think, is it OK to install? EDIT: and btw, what is the best ad-blocker for firefox? |

The best adblocker is AdBlock. It's a firefox extension, and you can get it from here . It won't block things on its own, but you can right click on .gifs, .jpgs, IFrames, and even Flashes animations to block them. In fact, you can even block such ads from an entire website! Truly one of the best adblockers for ANY internet browser.

Zone Alarm (I think) have a good adBlocker. For pop-ups I think the googlebar is VERY good. You get a message in the statusbar that a page tried to make a pop-up, and if you expected one, hold ctrl and try the link again, and it should let the pop-up show (eg. PM message in WA fourms)

I haven't tried the a9 toolbar, but I wouldn't install any extensions I can't find at extension mirror.

Thanks for the firefox-hints. The next cult program (winamp has been a cult since '99) be either firefox or foobar2000.
(The day is coming and coming soon when winamp is going to fade away on AOL's demand when they finally buy somereallyesytousebutreallycrappyplayer(tm) from some kind of spyware developer. (I'm a prophet, I know these things) (Didn't I just try to restart the discussion from one year ago when everybody was hysterical about what a disaster WA was going to be? ) )

I've installed the toolbar now. It's quite wonderful, but a9.com is probarly archiving my 9999 firefox history and some hacker is browsing my c:\-drive. I can feel it.
