what is graphedit?

I think this is actually my first semi nsv related question.

I've been trying to figure out how to increase the brightness/contrast on my stream. I read about icc color profiles, and some other weird stuff when I came across graphedit.

What does it do exactly? Is there anyway I can use it to adjust the brightness/contrast on a realtime dv capture stream?

graphedit is tool provided with dx sdk. it allows manual creation of graph (=dx playback/whatevah chains of components), there are exposed configuration settings, unlike in wmp9/10 and as said chain is created manually, so u can connect filters which don't normally load in playback situation,

isn't any capture device option available in nsvenc (or whatevah u use)? i doubt if graphedit can do something more. btw just try insert your capture device "filter" in graphedit and go to it's properties

i don't have any capture device now so i can't be sure

Or 'Connect to remote graph' and try to insert a filter there.

I'm using DV1394 live camera capture. So post processing is out of the question (cause its live). Normally with bt8x8 analog capture, you can adjust all that stuff, but the color information is lossy due to the A to D conversion.

I haven't found a way to adjust DV brightness, contrast ect yet. I even tried making a custom ICM profile for my camera with the gamma jacked way up, but it didn't help

I too am having the same problem. My live streams at home operate on a capture device via RCA video cables. When running NSV Live Capture on a IEEE 1394 input on a laptop, the color cannot be adjusted. t0qer is right here, its simply not possible inside of the software, not when using this type of camera using this type of connection.

The other problem I am having is that with this camera only, I can capture live to a shoutcast server for about 17-25 frames before NSVCap locks up. Does anyone have some ideas for that? Initially it would not run at all so I adjusted the size of the picture as well as the frame rate. I can preview the camera picture before going live (encoding) but once I start that it will not preview. I have to uncheck the preview option to go live. Even then, I cannot go past 17 or so frames. Any ideas?

NSVcap locks up if u got the preview on. You should use NSVenc instead. I just use a batch file that looks like this.
nsvenc /config cap:0,i sc:[my.shoutcast.server]:[shoutcastport]:headers.txt

Double click the batch file, and just tune in the stream for previewing.

Oh and connecting to remote graph only works for applications that have it enabled. I read about it on msdn.

Unfortunately, for some reason I cannot use NSVEnc with the camera I have. It is a JVC mini DVCam. The problem is that when I perform a command similar to yours, the "poopie settings" dialogue that pops up has everything greyed out and wont allow me to change any settings. Because of this, when I hit OK I get an error message in the command prompt alerting me that I cannot proceed because no Video Ouput codec has been chose. I am sent back to the prompt to try the command over again. I tried this several times earlier tonight and had to give up because nothing I tried worked. Did you experience anything like this? Perhaps this could have something to do with the cameras drivers that are loaded? I wanted to try and stream from my vacation here in hawaii but it is seeming next to impossible because when using NSVCap I get too many lock-ups (as you mentioned with the preview option on) as well as hundreds of dropped frames. I know you are one of the only people on here using a DVCam hooked up via firewire - did you experience these problems when running via NSVEnc?
