Launching .asx stream externally in WMP
Environment:
W2K Adv. Server Pro WMP 9.0 SC vers 1.9.4 SC DNAS vers 1.8.0 I am trying to externally launch WMP to play my shoutcast stream using this file and this link. (The .asx file resides on the root web folder) my .asx file (wmp.asx): -----<asx version="3.0">
WLMA NewsRadio

WLMA NewsRadio Live

<ref href="http://67.76.140.3:8000/"/>
</asx>------ The html to this .asx link: -----
Windows Media Choose This Link:
<ASX version = "3.0">
<REF HREF = "mms://windowsmediaserver/path/yourfile.asf" />
</ASX>
----- My .../listen.pls works fine as does embedding the WMP via .asx within the page itself. I however want each player chosen to launch independently and externally. Searching the forums over the last couple of hours has been unsuccessful. Any help is greatly appreciated. WMP reports 'unkown error" when attempting to play the wmp.asx file shown above. ty in advance John |

To launch WMP externally just use the asx file [first code you've posted above] and link it with an anchor tag, you don't need to embed any asx code on your html.
