Shoutcast version 1.9.5 config file in unix format
Just wanted to point out the default ini file that comes with shoutcast isn't in a friendly format for windows users. If you open it in notepad it looks like one big paragraph, and word wrapping doesn't help.
Simplest way to fix it is use an editor like textpad (free nagware trial) and save it as windows format. http://www.textpad.com/download/ Once converted you'll see it in nice readable format. I had to help a radio station out with this yesterday. I didn't understand why it's different from 1.9.4 which is what I run at home. Thanks, -- DD |

Hmm... Wordpad works, how about that.
Most people I know associate .ini files with notepad. Thanks for the heads up, is there a vulnerability and/or updates email list anywhere? -- DD |

Tag just probably copies the same file from the Unix version.
Pretty much every text read that isn't notepad supports Unix formatted files. There is a SHOUTcast mailing list, but it hasn't seen action in months. |

firstly, I think of the unix formatted config file as n00b protection. IF you dont know what the hell is wrong with the config file, then really, you shouldnt be trying to use shoutcast. Same thing applies to those people who dont know their ip address. I have no tolerence for people who dont have a basic knowledge of networking wanting to use a rather simple piece of software.
secondly, I am unsure if the shoutcast mailing list is still running, the winamp list server has been decommissioned I believe. certainly, the other mailing list i am subscribed to is now hosted on a far more robust list server at aol. |
