How to set the "Edit Config" correctly

I've tried over 5 times to set the config file right, I don't get most of it. Can anyone help me by AIMing me at duderxx12321 or emailing me at duderxx12321@hotmail.com? If you can send me a good config, just email me, and I will email you the password and other information I would like on it. Then you can send me a working Config. Thx!

You really don't have to change anything but the password. To test it, you don't even have to change that. You need to "know" the password and port, because they are required to configure the DSP.

The majority of the config is in the DSP.

The DSP is the WinAMP SHOUTcast plugin -- it's a Digital Signal Processor.

The first one you see is the only one you change. Viewing from the top down.

The "source" is WinAMP.

You need to run WinAMP, create a playlist containing only MP3s, push "Play", select the SHOUTcast DSP, and configure both the YellowPages and Connection tabs, select the bitrate you want via the Encoder tab, the go back to the output tab and press connect.

The source must connect to the DSP -- this means WinAMP must send the data (music) to the DSP so people can listen.

If the server (DNAS) and WinAMP are both on the same computer the IP address is 127.0.0.1, and if you didn't change the portbase, the port is 8000. You use these numbers in the connection tab of the DSP in WinAMP. Make sure to put something in the title of the YellowPages tab too, or it won't connect (for long).

That's ok, your source is connected.

You used port 9000. You need to remember it.

Now, you need to configure your router to forward port 9000 to the IP address of your PC. use ipconfig /all to find out the PCs IP address. Also, if you have a firewall on the PC you need to allow incoming port 9000.

Before you ask me "how" to configure the router -- take a look at it, look for the model number and visit portforward.com -- I'm gettin sleepy, so I may not be here until tommorow.

Basically you want to forward port 9000 to the IP address of the PC running the DNAS server and WinAMP...

Your SHOUTcast setup is perfect now and does not need any more configuration.
