It's a decent scope, but not exactly metaballistic. It's a good idea, though, if you're looking to cut back on the moving particles.

Spiral out, my friend. You will find your way back to yourself, we all will.
I'll be waiting, and shall see you on the other side...

hey that's a nice one! And what a coincidence: I've been working on the same idea, but decided to use texerII cause it looks a bit better. Unfortunately, mine is also an 'intermediate stage' preset (=unfinihsed).

But have a look yourself:

I can't delete it anymore :/

I'll make something new, this preset was more of a stupid "techdemo" anyway... Err not that i mean that the idea is bad or that your presets are bad, but... uhm... well... you know.

i understand the critique on the partikle movement,
perhaps i should combine this techdemo with the unreleased gravsim engine.
here is something that can´t be done with a dm.

Well excuse us oh high one! The 1337357 of them all 13375! May I kiss your f337?

Different people have different views on what's high on code and what's not. So for me making a texer II grid with using megabuf and then using more megabuf to code the blobs into the grid by merely "changing the colors"... well that does sort of strike me as a "techdemo" maybe it's not up to your extremely high standards, but for me done it for the first time it was pretty fucking awesome.

And no, im not really going to kiss your feet.

A colorlevel experiment, I noticed that an all-white additive Unique Tone didn't give an all white preset, which I did expect.
TomyLobo explained me at #FF, but guess what the experiments look like:

yup.

Well, sorry Tugg, I didnt mean to dump on your quote unquote tech demo...

But, just to prove how trivial this is, I went home and set myself a three hour time limit to make a better version of the same idea, and here it is.

Featuring a non-RGB colour scheme, easily changed width, height and number of blobs and its all packed into a single Render/Triangle. I even wrote it in super ugly AVS loop code so you dont need AVSTrans.

(Requires triangle.ape)

I dont think DM metablobs are going down really, ssc/triangle/texer2 metablobs invariably have a lower resolution than a DM and are usually slower as well. Not to mention they are significantly more complicated to code.

Personally I think metablobs make for pretty boring presets, unless they are done exceptionally well.

cool one pak!

but in contrary to your opinion i find that texerII-metablob-presets have got the advantage to choose different textures for the blob. Of course my example is not that great, but with texerII you're able to create a different style of metablobs.

Btw, change the texer2 frame code at the top to:
sizex=(w/280)*0.5*1.25 ; sizey=(h/280)*0.5*1.25;

Result: nifty almost-correct bilinear filtered plasma with just one texer.

(yes, I know it's slower than grid SSC + Movement)

Here's a ssc/movement version of my preset, this way you can optionally enable bilinear filtering in the movement. I added comments into the code in case anyone want to read it too.

I dont really think texer2 versions of the idea look as good, yes you can change the image however if its not rectangular your just adding holes. Plus rendering a bitmap is slower than rendering points/lines/triangles(triangles are perhaps debatable)

cynic
c.1550s, from Gk. kynikos, lit. "dog-like," from kyon (gen. kynos) "dog." Supposedly from the sneering sarcasm of the philosophers, but more likely from Kynosarge "Grey Dog," name of the gymnasium in ancient Athens where the founder, Antisthenes (a pupil of Socrates), taught. Diogenes was the most famous. Popular association even in ancient times was "dog-like." For nuances of usage of cynicism, see humor.
