Overlay wallpapers
I'm looking for some good clever wallpapers to use that look cool with overlay mode. Any ideas or images?

Wrong question.
Overlay mode puts a color over your wallpaper and projects AVS on that. The wallpaper disappears then. Jesus loves you [yes, you] so much, he even died for you so that you will not need to die, but live forever |

I think he means specifying a colour to overlay (and unchecking 'set desktop to colour).

Or maybe he's asking about suitable presets for desktop overlay.

You can have a wallpaper with overlay mode on. I have one on right now. Setting overlay color to the desktop color doesn't replace your wallpaper, just the color your wallpaper doesn't cover up, it's the same thing as changing it manually by right clicking on the desktop, going to properties->desktop->desktop color, and changing it that way, having winamp do it just makes it easier. You can put the overlay color into the desktop image and get a really cool effect. For example I'm using http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...isc/treeso.gif as my background, I set the overlay color to the blue stuff and put the image as my desktop. The preset goes on the blue parts and looks really cool. Try it, and if anyone comes up with a cool image to do this with tell us!

eek gif
not just cause it's evil once-patented gif, but also cause it activates the shitty Active Desktop without you noticing make a bmp of the background if you're not gonna change it for a while (zoom as needed, etc) If you can't say something nice, say something surrealistic. |

I used gif because photobucket isn't big enough for bmp. But that's irrelevant, I'd like to see some wallpapers that look cool with the overlay effect.

I took a back drop and made every other pixel the overlay colour, like a checkerboard pattern to create a sort of transparenty effect once. It works quite well in high res.

I took your idea but I put the checker pattern over a rainbow gradiant so it gives the visual a rainbow tint.
