ipod appears then disappears

When I plug in my ipod, it comes up under devices, however, it disappears within 5 seconds and won't come back up. Any suggestions?

bassboner and dada, when this happens, do you still see your iPod as a drive in "My Computer"? Have you both gone through the FAQ ?

Hi there folks. I'm having the same bloody problem that bassboner originally posted about in this thread: "When I plug in my ipod, it comes up under devices, however, it disappears within 5 seconds and won't come back up." (For me it's more like two seconds.) I went through the FAQ but nothing worked. What did bassboner and dada do?

Per the FAQ, I even added a song via iTunes, which of course, deleted everything I've added via MLiPod (fortunately that wasn't much stuff). Then I went back to Winamp as instructed. It still didn't work.

The funny thing is that if I move REALLY fast then I can drag & drop one new track onto one of my iPod's playlists in Winamp during the two seconds that it appears under "Devices." And it works. But the iPod and its playlists still vanish from under "Devices" even *while* the track is transferring onto the iPod... and yet the track is loaded onto the iPod successfully. I just don't have any time to edit the playlists.

Any suggestions? I was really happy to discover MLiPod a few days ago and it worked well for one or two days, then this started happening. Don't want to have to go back to the hideousness that is iTunes....
