Station freezes and private broadcast ?

Can anyone list reasons why my station freezes randomly. It seems to happen after many hours of playing. I will wake up to it just skipping. I run my station from PC at home for personal use and I have a router and a software firewall running on the PC.

Also, I wonder if I do not check the make this station public would I still able to connect to it remotely, like from work?

not sure on the first one, but the public setting is just so you get ( or not ) listed into the shoutcast directory, doesnt prevent you from connecting.
