E P I C S (tracks in excess of 10 mins)....
Starting with "Forever" by Neu!
On the album Neu! 2 (1973) ![]() Sounds like Jenny Ondioline by Stereolab, only much better (as these are the real deal). |

The Orb - Blue Room, 39'08 seconds worth of chilled out bliss and the first UK single to take advantage of the 'can be as many tracks as you like so long as it's no longer than 39'08 in length' rule they introduced for chart singles.

I have both original releases, it came out as a fold out edition with the original 39 minute mix, and then space for the 'edit' version which came out a week later, you could slot that into the original box or leave it as is.
I still have a sealed edition of UForb on vinyl, in it's blue pvc sealed sleeve with black title sticker on it, came with a limited editon live disc as well. Came out on my birthday back in 1992 I think, t'was a birthday pressie to myself. |

I have to spend more time with Can (also King Crimson). Perhaps Sunday morning's the best slot of the week.

That's not the problem (for me at least), more their tendency for pompous pathos.
And (on some albums) a singer who ended up fronting Asia. |

What kind of nutter would listen to Asia????
The The - Uncertain Smile (Dance Mix). Released 1982. ![]() Xylophone frenzy! As opposed to the album version the following year, which turned out to be a piano frenzy (Jools Holland's best piece). Notice Matt Johnson with hair.

Pink Floyd
Animals 1977 ![]() There are three tracks over 10 minutes (Dogs - 17:06, Pigs (Three Different Ones) - 11:28 and Sheep - 10:21). My personal favorite (which is also happens to be my favorite song of all time) is Dogs. Pink Floyd, of course, are among the masters of "epic tracks", with many beyond the ones on the above album. I'm a psychosomatic sister running around without a leash. |

The Gathering - How to Measure a Planet
1999 ![]() The last track "How to Measure a Planet" is 28 minutes of goodness. Annekke sings but it's mostly without words, she uses her voice like a guitar or other instrument. True class. |

Floatation by The Grid.
The vinyl 12inch I have technically goes on forever, as the track ends it fades down to the sound of waves lapping at the shore, however the run out grove on the disc is cut in such a way that it never reaches the centre of the record like you would expect, it just keeps looping the same bit over and over again, the waves just keep on lapping.... I have a Foetus album that does the same trick on the last track, just keeps looping the same note, which by this time sounds like a continuous note, over and over until you have to get up and lift the arm off the disc.... |

OK, if Refractions... counts (I wasn't sure about it since it's basically ~5 tracks mixed together):
Tortoise - Djed One of the few Tortoise tracks I'd always defend against Tortoise-haters (who may be right about most of the rest). |

Read the opening post of the latter, it's not quite the same thing....

I have Djed on, nice track, it brings Four Tet to mind. Another good one's "It's All Around You", I'm sure I've heard snippets in various ads (the wife agrees). Weighs-in at a feeble 4:19 though.

Many Underworld tracks clock at over 10 minutes: some of my favourites are Juanita/Kiteless, Spikee, Dark And Long...
And then you have ambient tracks: Eno's "Neroli" (53 minutes) and "Thursday Afternoon" (about 60 minutes), tons of Steve Roach tracks last more than 10 minutes, some of his albums are just one piece that lasts the entire disc ![]() In my collection, nothing beats Robert Rich's "Somnium" released in 2000 on a DVD: 3 tracks, 7 hours, shortest track is 2 hours long

I have it on a CD maxi called What The World Is Waiting For (according to AMG it was also added to the CD version of their debut album).
And it's 7 seconds short of 10 minutes.

Henrik B - Birth
last track on his album Kryoniks, normally henke does hard percussive techno but he released this smooth ambient album, and the last track is one of the best musical interpretation of the experience of birth, from the start in the womb until the child is out of the womb batman |
