Can I do all of this myself? Please Help
I am running the server for a site radio, and I am able to get people to connect and listen. I'm also able to allow other people to DJ for it....so that part runs completely fine.
Alright, please don't flame me...just answer my question and tell me why or why not. Can I host the server AND DJ for it? because if so...I'm having extreme problems..... Can I host the server AND listen to the radio of that server, while someone is DJing for it? Again, I'm having extreme problems..... If anyone knows why something isn't working, or if this is how everything is supposed to work, then please just answer my question and tell me why or why not. BTW, I am on a one man XP computer. Therefor I am the Admin....By looking at all specs, I should be able to run this. I have cable, I'm not running any other internet processes except for firefox and the server. I have a very good computer with everything you'd ever want in it.....(well, not EVERYTHING) and again, everything looks like it should be running dandy. |

"Can I host the server AND DJ for it".
Yes. Since the server is already running all you would need is Winamp and the DSP plug in and enter the same information that the other DJ's use to connect to the server. "Can I host the server AND listen to the radio of that server, while someone is DJing for it? Again," Yes, again. The server is independent of the sound system so you should be able to use Winamp or anything else to tune back into the stream - again using the same information normal listeners use to connect. You should insure you have the needed software and such and then go through the normal broadcasting/listening process and watch for errors or the such that should indicate what's going wrong. Ok, I tried installing Winamp and setting it alone on my computer. I didn't give it any additional plugins except for the Shoutcast plugin that goes in the DSP/Effect section. I tried to connect to my server and it still won't let me. I double checked all of my information and made sure that it was correct. I tried to be as paranoid as possible....I didn't even change the annoying skin that winamp comes with (maybe it's just me, but I.....kinda hate that skin). Does anyone know if I'm gonna have to mess with my router settings any more then I already have? I've port Forwarded port 8000-8001. This would really help me out to be able to listen to or dj this server.
TIA |

any clues in the logs or on the dsp as to why it doesnt work,
maybe a little bit more information on exactly what you have done and we can try and help? what settings you have entered into the dsp? are the encoder settings ok? did you kill and restart the dnas after making any changes? |

Well, in the server log it says absolutely nothing when I try to connect. I really don't see any problem with that.
My radio is at http://67.186.193.59:8000/listen.pls, and we play only 3 times a week for two hours. If I could DJ then it'd be on much more frequently. I've got my IP address in the address section. then in my passord I've stuck checked my ini file just to make sure that it's spelled perfectly and everything. in one case I actually made it one letter to insure that I didn't get anything wrong. I'm in output one, and in the yellow pages section the URL is the same as the Address. (I'm on port 8000) My encoder type is MP3 Encoder. 320 kbps stereo (although no matter what I change this to nothing changes....) and yes I restarted the DNAS (GUI) server |

having your ip in the box is incorrect,
try this tutorial and follow it step by step, Evil Lu's Local Streaming Tutorial also you say you have your server up @ 320kbps? make sure you have the bandwidth to support this as not many people do from a home connection, do a speed test here www.dslreports.com to see what connection speed you have, |
