During a broadcast, how many people ?

What is the maximum number of people that I can have on my shout cast live broadcast, simultaneous, or at any one given time?

I was told by a friend in this business that shout cast, depending on your ISP connection and your computer speed and the actual amount of traffic of broadcasts that are going out to the shout cast server, that anywhere from 100,000 through 1,000,000 simultaneous listeners can join and hear your broadcast?

Is this a correct scenario and number? If not what is a more realistic maximum amount?

thanks

upload / bitrate = max number of listeners.

always keep some bandwidth as spare
why?

isp's don't always give you what they promise and you still need some to surf the net or to stay in touch with others.

Each Thursday a new show on Celtica Radio with Darkwave music.

You can have as many as you want but you have to have the bandwidth and servers to support it. It's entirely possible to have ten billion listeners if you want but you would also need the bandwidth and server(s) powerful enough to support it and trust me - it's alot.

It's called scalability and SHOUTcast has it.

All you need is the bandwidth.
