Does CDDB work with WinAmp or is it broken? Documentation seems to be non-existent on CDDB for WA.

I'm behind a firewall (proxy server), but I do not have any problem getting MusicMatch to connect. Same setting for proxy gives me an infinite 'connecting' in the WA CDDB window. If I hit the 'Abort' button there is a handshaking error.

I have the same problem.

Under Preferences->Setup
I have selected:
Using LAN Internet connection and
HTTP proxy set as xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:xxxx

However, when I play an audio CD, the CDDB dialog box says "Error connecting to cddb.cddb.com:8880".

On the proxy machine, it doesnt register any HTTP request from the winamp machine. Perhaps it is not sending an HTTP request to the proxy at all?

winamp's cddb lookup can't seem to work on port 80. if you're behind a proxy/firewall, give up on cddb in winamp for now. (if you have a normal connection to the net, winamp's cddb works perfectly.) winamp3 will probably fix this problem. (at least i hope it does...)

My cddb doesn't work either, and I AM connected directly to the Internet. I can get to www.cddb.com, but cannot get to cddb.cddb.com:8880

I have winamp 2.64 Jun 6 2000.

What's strange is that this used to work. I upgraded to the latest version and it broke cddb.

I also can't seem to make the product go to the old address, which I believe is www.cddb.com:8880. This doesn't appear to be settable in Winamp.

I have the same firewall/proxy problem with CDDB...

Is there any way to disable CDDB requests in WinAmp to stop the dialog popping up every track?

What's really required is for the CDDB to use the proxy for name resolution the same as browsers do.

I have a similiar problem. I get the following message: "error initializing winsock". I suspect this is due my upgrade of winsock. I had to upgrade for a file sharing program I use. The CDDB function used to work!

I am experiencing the same problem, now that is, i have a normal connection and the cddb worked fine until i plugged in the cd-reader,so my cd's play thru the eq, now it will not work, however if i go to the top left corner of winamp and open up the menu and go to play cd-audio it will connect to the cddb, but it will not play thru the eq, i can't have both , so you can go to preferences\input, and disable the cddb and you won't get the dialogue box with every track, i'm hoping that they fix this problem soon, because the new window's media player 7 has both cddb and an eq and they work. but i like the skins the winamp offers,,,decisions, decisions.

Please forgive my previous post, it turns out I am NOT directly connected to the Internet. At the same time I upgraded my Winamp, they installed a Firewall and disabled port 8880. So my problem is an expected failure.

Sorry about the misleading post.
