Male/Female Combo?

Well, what's your favorite song with singers of both sexes involved? Mine'd be Erased by Paradise lost.

How cold is this poor life (Male)
Lay ashes at my grave(Male)
If it takes me away from you(Male)
A Subtle Gesture(male)

I don't know anyone (Male)
Cherish my religion (Female)
I don't know anyone (male)
Faith is only fiction (female)

This is erased, I promise, Not a trace(Male)
This is erased, I promise, Not a trace, no delay (Male)

Not exactly profound but greatly awesome. I think it's the whole alternating lines and the piano / guitar combo I like so much.

Slowdive & MBV do a nice boy/girl combo. The vocals collide, merge, bounce from wall to ceiling in an attack on your senses.

Also, alot of bands on Sarah Records (though blatently twee).

Then, Trembling Blue Stars, All Natural Lemon & Lime Flavors, Aluminum Group, Luna, The Swirlies, Drop Nineteens.

*retires to unplug brain*

I actually just heard slowdive on Pandora and liked em. I started out with band similar to Curve.

They formed around the same time (1990/91) and were lumped together as "the scene that celebrates itself" (daft name, even by music journalist standards). They attended each other's gigs, so probably influenced each other's work.

Your average Slowdive track goes from a trickle to a wall of sound in no time at all.

That's what I liked about Curve. I was chatting about music with my girlfriend around the time I started on them and she asked me to describe them. I was about floored, the only way I could think of was it sounds like a whole lot of noise, but musical noise. I don't understand it myself.

I kind of like "The scene that celebrates itself" just for the wierdness. It means absoluetly nothing. doesn't every music scent tout itself as the future when it forms?

That's what appeals to me beyond all else, it's not just noise for noise' sake, there's a hell of a tune going on (somehow). The easiest way to describe Curve is "The Jesus & Mary Chain fronted by Deborah Harry", but then that'd mean absolutely nothing to your girlfriend.

"The Scene That Celebrates Itself" was over by '94, it also included Ride, Lush, Chapterhouse, Moose, Swervedriver, Revolver (even Blur)? Needless to say it was loud.

Have you heard of The Birthday Massacre, a decent male/female-fronted band...

Shit, that means nothing to me. I've heard some Jesus & Mary Chain but I've never heard of Deborah Harry.

::edit:: I've heard of the Birthday Massacre. Never heard them but I'm making a note of it.

Ever heard of Blondie?

I'd rather call Curve Indie-Eurythmics (and that's why I don't like them).

As for male/female combos, atm I can only think of Lee Hazlewood & Nancy Sinatra and Gainsbourg & Bardot/Birkin/Charlotte Gainsbourg(Lemon Incest, a record everybody should have heard).

I would be really depressed if I hadn't heard of Blondie. Just never had the names behind it.

The others in the band didn't have names.

Only song I can think of right now is "Interlude" by Morrissey and Siouxsie.

Hehe, yes they did, for this single in 1997. Beautiful song and their voices complement each other very well.
