Always alive streams?

Hi, I've been using SC for about 6 months for a work project. So far its been working great but there were a few small things that I wanted to add to give the broadcast a bit of a more professional feel.

Just today I added and IntroFile and BackupFile. They work great (i.e. no chipmunks) but not exactly as I had hoped they would. Mainly I was hoping that they would server to act as content that people could listen to even when the broadcast source wasn't active. (i.e. if I wasn't broadcasting listeners could still start the stream, hear the IntroFile and then the BackupFile until I started streaming to the server.)

Some background info: We have a server hosted at our Data Center that's running the SCserver 24/7 as a service. I've done that just for simplicity on my end. We actually only broadcast for 1-2 hour(s) per week.

What I'm looking for is a way to keep the audio stream from the server active even when I'm not connected and broadcasting. That way if a listener connects before I start broadcasting they will hear the intro and some music while they wait, then when I start it will streaming my live feed.

Is this possible, if so, how?

sc_trans will keep the server alive if it is a linux server,

alternatively our content delivery servers will provide a source for your shoutcast server if you are not online for as little as £2 per month, check the links below for more info,,,

Not running linux, Windows 2000.

I also had the idea to have multiple items in my play list. I could have the first item be an absolute path to my intro file, then the second the link to my SC server. That way at least listeners will hear the intro no matter what, but they will still go dead after that.

Any other ideas? There has to be some solution while using Win2000.
I could run winamp locally on the server and have a song on repeat, but how do I interrupt that stream on the fly with my live content?

login with the shoutcast admin and kick the stream will kick the winamp for you.

Are you sure that will work?
When I kick the stream coming from the server that is keeping the feel active won't that kill the broadcast and then cause people to have to hit play again?

Or are you thinking that since its a live stream that the server is feeding the "BackupFile" will kick in keeping the listeners active until I start sending my new stream from my Laptop?

When you say "Shoutcast Admin" are you meaning the admin panel via the http://sub.domain.com:8000/admin.cgi?
I don't have a stream active at the moment so I guess I'm missing the area that lets me kick the active stream?
