static IP address
I re-installed my OP, leaving off the firewall, and most other programs, and put DSP and DNAS back on, configured the DSP, set up the passwords, and put some music on. I then went to http://127.0.0.1:800, and the Shoutcast Status site said my stream was up.
I found the IP address of my computer and found the place to type it in. My Internet Provider says if I set up a static IP address I cannot get on the Internet. I am on dial-up now, though I might get cable soon. On a dial-up is there any way I can make it possible for listeners to access my stream without a static IP address? |

Get a static DNS name for your dynamic IP -- http://www.no-ip.com/ -- Create an account and a name, it's free -- then, download, configure, and run the update client [DUC] to keep the name updated. Use the DNS name instead of the IP address.
The No-IP DNS name works over any ISP, cable, DSL or dialup. /* v2 HTML5 / Player test pages DigitalMixNYC, DigitalMixNYCbx | DNAS Status: Now Playing js codes (scaststatus_X.php) | PortForward.com | Upload/Download Speed Test | No-IP.com: Free Dynamic DNS | In the YP | dnasDir */ |
