Off the top of my head, try Sum 41 and Steriogram.

Also, for a long list of suggestions, go here. Enter the name of a band you like and click "Go". Then look under "Similar Artists". You can sample new music from any of the bands listed at a site such as Amazon.com to decide what you want to acquire. That's the way I do it, anyway, to make sure I don't waste time, bandwidth or money on something I'll end up not really liking.

(Also, a mod will likely move this thread to the forum Shy linked, since that's where it belongs.)

Hmmm, rock music.

There is so much rock music and it's all really quite different within itself...

You could do what Scor said and goto AMG, or you could throw out some examples of rock music that you do like so that can help us music lovers to assits in increasing your musical vocabulary... Because rock is such a wide genre it's hard to just come up with something.

And as stated in a previous post this needs to be moved into Music 'O' Rama.

Is there a difference between "rock" music and "stones" music?
What is the difference between a rock and a stone? And if you're caught between a rock and a hard place, are you at a Hard Rock cafe?
Pfft, who gives a shit?
Dude, if you need other people to lead you to music, you aren't listening hard enough.

Your average punk-pop band make Status Quo look like music geniuses...

So is "Whatever You Want".

Side note, the Quo drummer's playing at our primary school next week. I had to fork out £4 for my youngest to have the 'privilege'.

But hey, sending musicians to primary schools is a good idea, maybe it'll lead to new explosion of punk in 2015?

From the top of my head.

Great and good:
Kaiser Chiefs
Franz Ferdinand
Bloc Party
White Stripes (not rock, really, but hey...)

Average and bad (and overhyped):
Mando Diao
Arctic Monkeys
Stereophonics
The Strokes

What makes a band "good"?

"Do they play in key?" That's empirical and objective.

"Is their timing accurate?" That's empirical and objective.

"Do you like their music?" I don't know...do you? That's entirely subjective. So if I like them and you don't then you're simply wrong.

That's what I love about music. It engenders diversity. But make no mistake, when judging the non-technical aspects of music you'll be wrong 100% of the time when you make objective judgements about it. And this is one of the few perfect barometers in the world...someone saying in an absolute sense that a band is "good" or "bad" makes that person wrong every time. Not many things are so consistent as that.

The only way to avoid that hole is to keep things in a specific context.... "If you like those bands, you may like this one...", or "Here is a band I like, and you may like them as well."

And like Chev says...explore for yourself. Getting other people's input is good, but after that your own exploration is really what's required to discover what you will like in an area that's 100% subjective, such as musical taste.

for good rock music, you can't beat bands like the rolling stones, the doors, etc

Never underestimate the bandwidth of a station wagon full of tapes hurtling down the highway.

Not at all. It wasn't provoked by anyone. I just see and hear a lot of generalized "this band is better than ____" and "that band sucks" being said all over the place. It just makes me hear barometer alarms going off.

More than likely, the music recommended here will make you excrete yesterday's lunch so try something like Yahoo's Launchcast which presents similar bands to your input tastes.
These chuckleheads will only recommend crap that they like.

Try listening to some Muse and Radiohead, great bands although it takes a certain ear to like them.
