Broadcasting from a Wireless Network
Basically, is this possible? It seems like there's an awful lot of modifications needed to make to specific settings.
I have SHOUTcast running, getting a "NAK" and "(Cannot see your station/computer (IP: 87.242.145.62:8000) from the Internet, disable Internet Sharing/NAT/firewall/ISP cache" error. My network IP (192.168 etc...) is allowing me to see it fine, but my actual IP isn't (as you'd have guessed from the error message). |

You need to set up port forwarding on your wireless router.

Using a wireless network to stream can be done but as you've found out it can also be a pain in the ass.
The first thing I always suggest is to manually set your router and computer's IP addresses. Router would be 192.168.0.1 and then each subsequent computer on the network use ascending numbers. Turn off DHCP. The reason I say this is DJCP dynamically assigns IP addresses and those changing IP's can wreak havoc with port forwarding. Then of course read your routers documentation on the specifics of port forwarding. Set the route to the specific IP address to the system that will be running Shoutcast. Portforward.com gives some information on how this is done. Another thing that has been known to be an issue using wireless is depending on the router some reduce the overall bandwidth available to a single PC which can reduce your overall stability. I've used both a Linksys and a Netgear router (11mbps and 54Mpbs) and both had this issue. A direct connection is always recommended. Megarock Radio - St. Louis Since 1998! Don't click this link! Believe it or not I think I actually have the NAK thing sorted. I've even managed to get listed in SHOUTcast's directory.
Only problem now is no-one outside the home network can access the broadcast. Any ideas how that can be fixed? |

Not a big deal. Many routers don't support loopback (accessing one's external IP address).

Right... so close to cracking this!
Broadcast up and working... people can connect, BUT - they are reporting to suffer regular buffer errors. My Encoder Settings are at 56kbps 44.1 Mono Should I adjust this? |

this all depends on the upstream of your connection.
the formula is upload / bitrate = max users. |
