sc_trans_linux and blanks in filenames

I have a large collection of MP3 where file and directory names contain blank characters (e.g. /mp3/Jamie Cullum/Catching Tales/Mind Trick.mp3). IS there any way to generate a playlist that sc_trans_lunix will understand and play?

some examples i tried and which did not work (e.g. sc_trans_linux crashed)

'./data/mp3/ready/Nek/In due/Le vibrazioni di una donna.mp3'
"./data/mp3/ready/Nek/In due/Le vibrazioni di una donna.mp3"
./data/mp3/ready/Nek/In due/Le vibrazioni di una donna.mp3

I am managing the library on a linux server via a third party tool on a pc that creates the files names with blanks. Note: changing the filenames once with a shell script that replaces the blanks with an underscore and then use a different tool moving forward is NOT an option, unfortunately

thx

Well, dunno about all that other huhu, but yes there is a way to generate a playlise in linux that sc_trans diggs.

I have always gone the easy route and used XMMS to generate the list. Then I edit all of teh EXINF info out of the list and dump what is left (path to song and song name.mp3) into the playlist file that I have sc_trans pointed at.

If this does not work for you, let me know.

edit: however, if I had to guess, it is the ./data bit. I am taking this to mean "go find a /data directory where the '.' is point anywhere, which it is not going to like. You ought to give the full path (ie /home/fcuk/SHOUTcast/source/song.mp3 --- no using quotes either).

Thanks, FC, you were right, it was the relative path. Although the files reside in the directory I indicated and I called sc_trans_linux from a direcory where the resultion of that path led to the proper target it seems as if sc_trans doesn't like relative paths in general. I changed them to absolute (i.e. full paths) and now it works!

reardon: yep. Thought that the relative directory might be doing you in. You are correct that sc_trans does not like that.

Anyway, I am glad to hear that you are up and running!

Cheers!
