Problem with connection to server

Me and a few friends are starting a station on here (Stump Radio) and one of my friends is the server host. He has it set up on his computer and is able to DJ from that computer just fine.

But when I kicked him from the server and logged on from my computer, it connected and played but everything was playing at a faster speed than normal. So the music and my voice was sped up.

What are possible causes of this and how can they be remedied?

Both the server computer and the computer I'm attempting to stream from are on broadband cable internet access.

Thanks

The most likely cause of this would be the bitrate/sample rate settings between you and the previous DJ do not match.

For example if the previous broadcaster streams at 128k/44Khz and you connect and start streaming at 56k/22Khz the stream will garble or speed up/down getting what some call a 'chimpmunk sound'. All broadcasters must stream at the same settings to avoid this otherwise listeners will have to completly disconnect from your stream and reconnect in order to clear things up. These settings can be found in the DSP plug in you installed in Winamp.

Mind that in most cases you can raise or lower the bitrate but if the sample rates do not match this issue can be the result. Make sure everyone is on the same page.b

well I changed the bitrate to 80 stereo, which was the same as his setting and reconnected and was still having that problem. Could anything else be causing this issue?

Nevermind, everything failed and we had to restart the server and since then everything has been working properly.

Thanks for the help, I appreciate it.
