Winamp doesn't play my stream server in realtime
I installed Shoutcast server with default value for testing and started it.
I installed DSP plugin in Winamp and start to broadcast with MIC. On other computer, i try to listen what i'm broadcasting with Winamp and i can ear what i said in MIC with little delay, but it's OK for me. Next, i close winamp, reopen it 5 minutes later and try to listen again. Winamp is playing but i can ear the same things than 5 minutes ago, not what i'm saying now in mic. What's wrong in my setup? Thanks! |

SHOUTcast isn't real time, it isn't ment to be. There is buffering in both the server and the client. it is to prevent skipping on the listeners end. This cannot be disabled. Though the high the bit-rate, the lower the buffer.

No. They here where they joined in in the buffer.
Think of it like a tape delay. Live-ish, but not quite. |

OK!!! That's i'm thinking... So, the more KBPS value will be high, the smallest buffer will be? I want to ajust this buffer to make sure it will not be too large...

buffer can be changed, its built into the transport. The higher the bit rate the less of buffering that could happen, but more bandwidth is needed for your and the listeren.
Even live radio on AM or FM has delays so they can edit content on the fly. However with shoutcast, it is ment to prevent the server from hogging 100% CPU, Memory and network. ~ According to the ship's log we're down to our last 3000 vomit bags. It'll never be enough. ![]() search the forums! don't PM me on how-to, or ask me to setup you system. you do it so you learn. |
