win2k SP4, in_mod.dll version 2.2.2:
When playing a mod(it,s3m,etc) from a http:// URL, if that mod has a "blank" (zero length) title in the mod's title field, the first time it's played, the playlist title will be shown as the filename. Going to another song in the playlist and then returning to the mod will then cause the mod's playlist title to be the same as that of the last file played. Right click > view file info then changes the mod's playlist title to the full URL. View File Info from a context menu or any other place doesn't do this. here is a mod with no title: http://www.engramstudio.com/music/mod/mcmole.it here is a mod with a title: http://www.engramstudio.com/music/mod/stars_fixed.it add the URLs to winamp, switch between them, and both should end up having the same title. [note: reposting this from 5.21 thread, wasn't acknowledged at all I don't know if anyone can reproduce this or not] [Edit --> DJ Egg] Yeah, reproduced/known. in_mod needs quite a bit of work, heh. |

Ok...
I know this is going to sound completely crazy. Since I installed 5.23 if I have more than one custom colortheme in "Winamp\Plugins\ColorThemes\Winamp modern" the first (alphabetically) custom color theme is shown perfectly. However the second one doesn't load all the settings so looks like the "default". Note this is the filename of the theme not the "gammaset id=". (This occurs if colorthemes are stored in separate xml's if you put all colorthemes in the same xml this doesn't occur.) If I rename one that doesn't display correctly, so it comes first alphabetically, then that one displays perfectly and the following custom ones won’t. As I said - I know it's crazy... but I just spent over half an hour testing this and renaming the custom theme that didn't display correctly to come first alphabetically works everytime. I've reinstalled winamp, removed plugins - cleared all settings. This still is the case. Please tell me there's a logical reason for this - I think I'm losing my mind over it. [Edit --> DJ Egg] Hmm, yeah, there might be something funky going on there. I suggest that you post in the Modern Skins forum instead, for clarification/confirmation/etc. Last edited by nefarlous; 8th June 2006 at 21:23. |

This isn't a problem with the bundled plugins but it is an issue with the Jammix EQ plugin. When listeing to ShoutCast, Winamp would crash giving me the Jammix DLL as the cause. just thought i'd pass the word.
[Edit --> DJ Egg] Again, 3rd-party plugins are NOT supported here. Please do NOT report any such issues in the Bug Reports forum. Besides all that, I can't reproduce the problem with the latest version of Jammix. |

Sorry just spent ages searching for a modern skins bug report forum, and haven't been able to find it.
[Edit --> DJ Egg] The Modern Skins forum is here. You've even posted in it before, heh. [Edit --> nefarlous] Heh, figured you meant a Modern Skin Bug report forum. ok thanks. Last edited by nefarlous; 11th June 2006 at 12:09. |

Repost from the 5.22 thread:
ml_nowplaying.dll seems not to be implementing most of the MiniBrowser API. "Do not allow media to switch automatically to "Now Playing"" seems to have no effect - nothing can ever switch there, whether by using IPC_MBOPEN or IPC_MBOPENREAL. NxS Info Tool gets junk when trying to retrieve the current URL. |

Well, that sucks. Some of us were using it! (Making your own pages using file metadata is a good idea when not one of them will ever come up right in the regular Now Playing lookup.)
So what effect do the Now Playing options have now? With no external URLs, the anti-JS+ActiveX option is somewhat useless too. |

ml_local crash when updating special items in ML
I did a clean install of 5.23, but copied my settings (ML contents etc) in the corresponding installer step from my old 5.21 installation. This added ~5000 songs to the ML.
Warning, it gets very deep into code now... Some of them now have a TUID2 field in the extended_info of the ItemRecord, I don't know where this comes from or what it's good for. When analyzing my original database in 5.21, no ItemRecord has this TUID2 field. So 5.23 generates it itself (what for?) for some items, in my case only 8 songs out of 5000 had it set. And it can be clearly seen that ml_local crashes when you want to update such an item with ML_IPC_DB_UPDATEITEM. This can only be reproduced from a ML plugin, you can write a simple one that uses the ML_IPC_DB_UPDATEITEM message, see example below. Example code: code: So you see, all I do is writing the old info back, no changes are made. That crashes with the TUID2 info. In the debugger, I can see that the crash happens somewhere in ml_local, when the ECX register has an unexpected 0xFFFFFFFF value. Call stack: code: Ok, that was very technical, I hope it is helpful... -abu Edit: This was introduced with 5.22 already! But I skipped that version, that's why I did not find it there. @ Maxim
Don't think for one second that I didn't warn the devs about this. I used it myself. I did however find a workaround (although there's no dynamic content, heh), and that was to edit ml_online.ini to include my own custom view/channel in Online Services, eg. ElementID9=6000 ElementIcon9=11004 ElementSubbed9=1 ElementName9=SingingFish Search ElementURL9=http://www.winamp.com/bin/om/sf/ ElementID10=7000 ElementIcon10=11003 ElementSubbed10=1 ElementName10=Album Covers ElementURL10=file://c:/program%20files/winamp/winampmb.htm ElementID11=-1 |

I believe TUID2 is a stored gracenote track id for the now playing window. It speeds up lookups iirc.

With global hotkeys enabled, keys num 0, num del, num 1, num 2, num 3, num 4, num 6, num 7, num 8, and num 9 also respond to insert, delete, end, down, pagedown, left, right, home, up and pageup.
This also works in reverse--num insert and num delete only work with numlock off, the rest it doesn't seem to matter. Keyboard and drivers are the same as my last system, which was Win2000, Winamp version 5.12, and didn't have this problem. Specs Intel D845GEBV2 P4 2.5GHz 512MB RAM SoundMAX Intel 82845G WinXP sp2 |

Winamp 5.24 clean install
WinXP SP2 P4 2.8GHz 1GB ram Mobility Radeon 9600 with driver version 6.14.10.6436 SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio with driver version 5.12.1.4011 DirectX 9.0c Media library / whatever version came with the 5.24 critical security update (I don't know how to find this out) Bug: playlists get deleted. How to reproduce it: Open winamp and create a new playlist. Close winamp. Play a video file by opening it from Windows explorer. Whoosh, playlist gone. It does -not- happen every time, and there are some video files that it never seems to happen with (but if you close winamp and then pick a different one, that one still might delete the playlist). So you might have to try a few times. [Edit --> DJ Egg] Not sure what you mean. If you're referring to the Playlist Editor window, then make sure 'Enqueue' is the default action in Winamp > Prefs > File Types. Other than that, if Play is the default action, then this is expected behaviour. |

in_midi
The latest in_midi (3.11) plugin seems to be unexpectedly buggy. Many of my midi files won't play, and some even crash the plugin with a divide-by zero.
Also, most (if not all) now seem to cut off slightly before the last couple of notes. For the record, if I replace the plugin used by 5.2 (the next oldest I have - in_midi 3.1) none of these problems exist. Examples: http://www.vgmusic.com/music/console...scd_mcd_10.mid (Loops/ends at the very beginning) http://www.vgmusic.com/music/console...g_CastleXG.mid (refuses to play at all) http://www.vgmusic.com/music/other/m...ey/vkpiano.mid (Crashes with div-by-zero or freezes Winamp) These happen to be examples of this behavior that I could find links to, but I ran into each with more than a few files through my rather large collection. For the moment I've dropped back to in_midi 3.1, but hopefully this'll be fixed in the next release. ![]() [Edit --> DJ Egg] Already fixed for 5.25 (or whatever release version is next). All 3 of those MIDI's play fine with in_midi v3.13 from latest internal beta. Note that the problem was the same as the one reported by BugMaster 3 posts up. Also note that vgmusic.com doesn't allow external direct linking, heh. |

CD Ripping not obaying set speed
Hi
AMD 3000+ XP PRo sp2 WInamp 5.2.4.703 Pioneer DVD-115f DVD Drive Sony DRU-710A DVD Burner It's been a while since i've done any cd ripping and noticed tonight that winamp isent obeying the speed set in the configuration (2x). I'm getting an average rip closer to 6-7x I'm not sure it's obeying the thread priority i've set either (below normal) as when i look at the modules part of the process in nortons process viewer none of the listed modules have this priority. regards Shaun |

I'm not talking about the playlist editor window. You know how there's a list of playlists in the Media Library? Those are what get deleted. Sorry I was unclear, when I said "open winamp and create a new playlist" I meant new playlist in the media library. |

Predixis Musicmagic plugin:
- This plugin likes to eat huge amounts of memory. I have a limited RAM size of 768 MB and it happened more times, that winamp has dead, while I was running the library analyze function. This time winamp eated 315 MBs of memory when dying. It's absurd. It should at least check if there is enough memory available. - The plugin has no configuration window, although it should. I don't mean a lot.. but some buttons to clear its database, configure the highest amount of RAM allocatable and that's all. It could solve this problem. |

The Windowshade function in the library window is missing again, v5.24
in 5.23 it is still there. edit: crap, wrong thread. sry [Edit --> DJ Egg] That feature is added by the JTFE plugin (gen_jumpex), so make sure you didn't uncheck it in the installer options, and make sure the option is enabled in Prefs > Jump to File > Misc. Also note that it's a Classic skins-only feature, not Modern skins. |

Hello.
I just found out that in_mp3pro.dll causes 5.24 not to connect to web and hang in [BUFFERING] state. Version 0.98.0.5 by: Copyright © 2001 Coding Technologies GmbH [Edit --> DJ Egg] 3rd-party plugins are not supported here. The 3rd-party MP3Pro plugin is probably the buggiest plugin ever. Complain to Coding Technologies instead. There's nothing we can do about it here. |

in_midi.dll bug *fixed*
Okay this might be a problem for Nullsoft MIDI player 3.11 [in_midi.dll]
Problem: somehow, it cannot play the end of the file properly, simply cuts off at 5:31 with no error messages. It's supposed to be fading off...and works fine in WMP9. Yes it's winamp 5.24, I have some 3rd party plugins but none of them has anything to do with midi...if nobody is able to repeat the problem, I will try to provide more information. Thanks Edit: ah very sorry, I just read the sticky for related problems, and found the fixed in_midi.dll from http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....84#post1975684 Now it works fine now, I'll just leave this post as a reference |

DirectSound output v2.43 (d)
The DirectSound plugin settings "logarithmic" and "hybrid" for the volume cause the volume to be only -3 dB at 100%. On the "linear" setting, the volume is correctly 0 dB at 100% as it should.
This is not only what is reported by the "Status" tab of the configuration window of the DirectSound plugin, but also what is reported by the peak meters of my soundcard driver. Nobody seems to know what the purpose of this is (http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....hreadid=249286), so I'd like to see it fixed. Test .wav file attached in the zip archive. |

not really a big deal...
XP pro SP2, winamp 5.24
not sure if this is really a bug, and it's definitely not very important, more of a nuisance. but whenever i sync my creative zen touch, and create a playlist (i'm super anal, so all my tracks have to be separated by album), if there's multiple albums with a track with the same name and track number (such as two different albums with track #1 named "intro"), each duplicate track except for the last is replaced with the last. it'd be great if you can help. if not, well... i'll probably still worship you for years to come. |

"winamp has encountered a problem and needs to close" where can i get logs or whatever? happy to do it, need to know how. **The more information you provide US, the Faster we can or will help you. ok, here's whats happening: i have a huge library of rips, 51 days worth encoded at 256kbps. winamp scans everytime it starts, and i tell it to smartly find metadata if ANY is missing, as opposed to all. but my mp3s are pretty well tagged as is. in any case, in ML i click "audio" under "local media" and i can see three panes. artist top left, albums top right, and songs bottom pane. i "hide info" when doing this. what i am doing, is going thru my vast collection and retagging it manually. this crashes winamp, A LOT. i have tried some workarounds, with no avail. first i tried waiting until the initial "scan at startup" was over, which i could tell as i could see it in the preferences still scanning. no dice. then i tried clearing and rescanned the library from scratch. no dice. i tried doing it with and without songs playing, (thinking the drive might be powered down, as my music is on a ide channel, not on my sata system drive). no difference. what i do, is in the bottom pane, i select one song, or a bunch of songs, (highlight them) and then right click and pick the "Edit selected items" option. i make my edits, click update, and hold my breath... it crashes at least 40% of the time. it seems to be more likely to crash the more songs i do at once, but it has crashed from just one song! it also seems more likely to crash if its still doing its initial startup scan. i am more than happy to provide any more info i can, just need to know what more to tell you. thx. EDIT: just thought of one more thing... i am at 80% opacity, if that matters. ______________________________________________________ [Edit --> DJ Egg] This issue is known. Quote:

Windows 98 SE, DirectX 9.0c, IE6 SP1, MDAC 2.8, .NET 1.1, .NET 2.0,VB6 SP5 Runtime DLLs, WMP9.
Plugin: Media Library (don't know what component... used to be so easy before it was split up )Problem: When double-clicking/playing/enqueueing an artist or album from the Media Library, Winamp crashes with the following error: Quote:
Oddly, this only occured when I formatted and re-installed Windows 98SE and everything else mentioned above. v5.23 didn't have that problem before I needed to reformat and re-install. IIRC there's about 80 albums, around 470 artists, and about 1250 songs. Happens every time, can't figure out why. |
