Static IP/ DNS Server Questions:
OK. Here's my setup:
I'm on Windows XP... running through a D-Link DI-604 Router. I'm attempting to setup a Static IP so I can get my Shoutcast station firing again. I've followed the steps sdescribed by Portforward.com on how to set up the Static IP... but hit the snag with the DNS Server Names... it only gives me one... and I need two. No problem... it says call the ISP. I call my ISP (Cox Communications), and they say that there's nothing they can do. Hmm. Does anyone know how to correctly obtain the DNS Server Names so I can set up mt Static IP? Also... I cannot log-in to my Router... the admin password won't grant me access... is there a way to retrieve my router's password? Thanx in advance! |

The ISP with a router is not your internet connection supplier
but the ISP is YOU. the router is not supplied by cox . if you can't log into your router, reset it, at the back there is ( with most routers) a reset button ( mostly a small hole where you have to use a small object to press the button inside) than read the setup guide that came with the router. portforward the thing according to the guides here in the forum and get a static forwarding adress at either no-ip.com or dyndns.org. heres some handy tutorials Read the Winamp Read me IORSN Streaming Tutorial Evil Lu's Local Streaming Tutorial Evil Lu's Fixing Nak Errors IORSN Fixing Nak Errors |
