Two sound cards

Allright, so I have two 5.1 sound cards. One plays with external amplifier. The other one plays with my 5.1 headphones.

Sometimes a gotta switch winamp output between those two soundcards. It's all cool going to preferences and doing it manually inside DirectSound plug-in and then re-PLAYing current file, but it is so many clicks away.

I thought that maybe one of you knows some plug-in that allows for much quickier way of switching output between soundcards. If so, lemme know

Thanks in advance

Checkmark 'Enable multiple instances' in: Prefs > General Preferences

Create a new shortcut icon for Winamp using a commandline such as:

"X:\Path\To\winamp.exe" /INIDIR="%programfiles%\Winamp\Headphones"

Or to save the config files etc to the UserProfile dir instead of Program Files...

"X:\Path\To\winamp.exe" /INIDIR="%appdata%\Winamp\Headphones"

Make sure the "Headphones" subfolder exists first.

You can then run two instances of Winamp, both configured differently.

The main instance will still save config/mldb/m3u etc to the same dir as before, and the 2nd instance will save to whatever dir is specified in the commandline switch (Headphones, as in the example above).

So all you need to do now is configure both instances accordingly, and you're all set to go.

Or, you could just make a copy of out_ds.dll as eg. out_ds2.dll
and configure each DirectSound Output config accordingly.
There's even an Output Switcher plugin available which will save you having to go into the Winamp Prefs each time to switch the active Output plugin.

Find the Output Stacker plugin and output to both soundcards at the same time.

And how can you have 5.1 headphones? you only have 2 ears.. unless you are some kind of freak with 5 ears
