Is rap really considered music?

Doing this for an argumentative research paper, was wondering what you guys thought. This paper is using Rogerian rhetoric, so if it does end up being one sided, dont be afraid to argue your opposing opinion, it kinda needs to be equal (although it'll probably end up being one sided anyways).

Any thoughts?

I think you should stop being lazy, do your own homework, and construct your own arguments like most people do.

Ok, so obviously you've never heard of rogerian rhetoric...

I'm not constructing my own argument (like I said, it's not one sided), I'm looking for equally different reasons behind people's opinions. The paper explores each side of the argument (if it is music, or if it's not) And I figured since it's kind of a music/sound orientated website, I might get some good opinions? And it's not like I'm just looking on this site only. (and yes, I need to use the internet because I need at least 8 sources)

Is it sound arranged in time? Yes. Then it's music.

I wouldn't call rapping "singing," and I might from time to time make the joke that "rap music" is an oxymoron, but it does have rhythmical devices and whatnot that establish it as music.
