Winamp will not switch between Shoutcast streams
Hello all,
I hope this has not been answered as I have tried to thoroughly search the board before asking this question. I have been using Winamp for years and never had a problem. However, I just got a new laptop that uses Windows Vista Basic. I installed Winamp Lite 5.35 and if Winamp is not open, streams from Shoutcast will launch Winamp and play just fine. However, once Winamp is open, it will not switch to a new Shoutcast stream. The music simply stops playing and Winamp just sits there. It doesn't crash, it just won't play the new stream. The funny thing is, if I right click on the tune in button and save the playlist file to my desktop and click it from there, it will load it up and play just fine. So it seems my Winamp will not play a .pls file from my temporary internet folder if it already open. I have cleared my cache and it doesn't help. I also don't believe it is my firewall because I have disabled it completely and I still have this problem. I am not running any 3rd party software aside from AVG (which I also tried disabling), just the Windows firewall and Windows Defender. Any ideas on this? Thanks in advance! BTW, Winamp continues to work flawlessly on my XP machine...is this a Vista issue maybe? |

Hi,
If you experience the problem again, could you right-click the item in the playlist that won't work > Playlist Entry. Then copy the path you find there and paste it here. |

I'm not sure how to do what you just said....but I can tell you that this is definitely a problem with Winamp and not my setup.
I know that because I just downgraded to Winamp 2.91 Lite, and it works flawlessly. |

When you try to load a SHOUTcast playlist and it doesn't work, what exactly happens?
Does a new item appear in the playlist editor in Winamp? If so, right-click that item, and choose 'Playlist entry'. Then press Ctrl+C to copy the filepath to the clipboard. Then paste (Ctrl+V) the filepath in a reply here. There's a known issue with filepaths getting corrupted somehow; I was trying to find out whether that's the issue here as well. |

I can't tell for sure anymore since I went and uninstalled 5.35.
But I can tell you that I would click on a shoutcast link and if Winamp wasn't running, it would start up and play the stream as ususal. Bit if it was running and I clicked a new stream, Internet Explorer would download the .pls into a temporary folder as normal, but then Winamp would stop playing the old Shoutcast stream and simple display the file name, whatever it is, something like shoutcast-playlist(1) and each time I tried again, it would just increase the number, like shoutcast-playlist(2) and so on. Hope that helps. I guess I'll wait for the next upgrade to try again. |

Wow that rocks thanks so much
![]() ![]() Oh and look they tried to fix the fire graph too, need a lil more work though. Skin remain unchaged after fullscreen visuals, and links work and no need to keep the IE open GJ. |
