URL Submitted by User
Hey, what's up with this "URL Submitted by User" stuff? How are we supposed to make use of helpful links posted by fellow broadcasters (searching now is useless).

It blocks out dirty, dirty spammers. Hit the quote button if you want to see the actual link.

Hey Sawg, thanks for your reply.
Hmm, I can understand the need to stop spammers, but having to hit "quote" with each post then copy/paste to get to the URL, makes reading hundreds of posts very difficult. This drastically reduces the effectiveness of the forums. Admins, please reconsider this method of anti-spam. Thanks, rg. |

Admittedly, I've been away from awhile. Things were fine before. Did they go all crazy? Was it automated or human spamming (the former can be easily stopped)?

no privy to what form of spamming it actually was, but there were mountains of it.
I agree with you; it is a pain. However, it is a pain that I am more than willing to endure. |

Automated is easy to overcome. Just have to put a random question script into the registration process. When I installed a forum on my small website, I got loads of spammers signing up every day; I couldn't keep up with deleting it all. After I installed the question script...not a single spammer.
