Skip when shuffling?
I know iTunes has a checkbox in track properties to skip a song when shuffling. Any possibility this could be implemented in ml_iPod (or already is and I just don't know about it)?

Wow, thats cool. I haven't used iTunes in so long that I rarely hear about those type of features. That is a really cool feature.

At the moment, this flag is set automatically for all audiobooks and podcasts.
So, as a workaround, you could set the genre to audiobook

Okay, I'll do that for now. I'd be willing to implement a proper solution myself, but I just reinstalled Vista and don't have Visual C++ 6.0 installed. Only Visual Studio 2008 (which is a nice IDE to be sure, but it won't compile ml_iPod
)...What this is for is because my mom has a self-made compilation album on her iPod that includes a spoken intro and closing. When in normal shuffle mode, we don't want the intro and closing to randomly play in the middle of a run of unrelated songs.

That is exactly right. Plenty of albums/compilations have these short intro/closing tracks that nobody wants randomly playing. Thanks for the workaround suggestion and I hope the full feature gets implemented.

We'll use the "special comment marker" again, as Winamp has no field to record that data.
Use 3.03p02 and add a "[SS]" to the comment field (SS=skip when shuffleing) WinAmp Pro 5.5 with ml_iPod 3.10 + dev.patches (download it) ml_iPod documentation Wiki - ml_iPod FAQ - search ml_iPod forum - iPhone/iTouch - Found a bug? Donations to support the ml_iPod project can be done HERE |

I already explained one scenario in my post above.

remember playback position
instead of starting a new thread i figured i could ask in this one.
right under the skip when shuffling in itunes there is a remember playback position so that i can just listen to my mp3's as audiobooks and not have to convert them to m4b files. is there anyway to do this in winamp? i also noticed that none of my m4b files play at all in winamp. thanks |

All that is explained fairly well (I think) in the Wiki. Look for 'audiobooks' there...
