x264 + nsvate encoding help!

Hi guys, I really need your help. This is the deal, I'm trying to encode a xvid file using nsvate, the target format is x264, AAC+ (nsv file). The thing is that I keep getting this annoying error in nsvate. After adding a source file and setting up the encoder I hit "Encode selected" and a window shows up saying: "error initializing x264 codec", I click "accept" then it says "addVideoFrame:vidcoder->Encode()returned error". I downloaded the nsv_x264 dll files and put them in the correct folders (nsv_coder_x264.dll in Nsvtools, and nsvdec_x264 inside winamp plugin folder), I also installed the latest ffdshow and changed the ffdshow video configurator to "set all stable formats to libavcodec", I also downloaded and installed the latest version of x264vfw. I tried searching on google to see if there was a solution but it seems that I'm the first one with this problem! Please help me I tried everything and I already ran out of ideas!

PS: I hope I made myself clear, my english kinda sucks.

Did you configure the VFW h264 interface on ffdshow?, the
encoder uses the VFW interface not Directshow.

There is a lot of different x264 encoders going around, the newer ones doesn't work with NSV, and the older ones are hard to find. Check my signature, I have the latest working one there "NSV X264 vfw version (Decoder AND Encoder)"

@neilm717, no... how do I do that?

@wildex999 megaupload doesn't work for me could you upload the file to rapidshare please? By the way I just realized you're the one with the wordpress blog, I thank for creating it, it's pretty good and it was very helpful. One last thought, you should finish the "Installing and setting up VP6, AACP and X264 codecs" section

Hi Spaceb,

i ve seen the problems the same as you.but if you follow these steps you will be able to solve the problem:
1- install the DTS_x264.exe
2- copy the files (C:\WINDOWS\system32\x264vfw.dll and x.264.exe ) to the C:\Program Files\NSVtools folder

then you will not see the error of x264 codec anymore.

May I ask why the newer versions don't work?
Is there any patch for this?

The build at the X264 site dropped the older Video for Windows software interface to the codec that Winamp uses. Look for builds that still contain this interface there are a few around one project is at Sourceforge.

How can I know if it's supported by NSVCAP?

Try the VFW builds here,

ht[delete]tp://sourceforge.net/projects/x264vfw/

I've just installed the latest version and it works fine
with my nsvate and vsvcap.

Opps sorry you are dead right, I only installed it and ran it as far as the config screens. After actually testing encodes, both this version and the previous December build also error on encode, the last build which seems to run ok is the Sept 2007 version, it was the version I was using. You can grab that one here.
