Changing location of mp3s. Help please
I want to change the location of all my mp3s and would like to do so without compromising the winamp library or my playlists.
With regard to the playlists I'm thinking I can open them up in notepad and replace the existing location E:...\artist\album with the new Z:\...artist\album Is this right? Also, how could I ensure that winamps library points to the correct location of my mp3s without having to rescan (and hence, lose all my history of) my collection? Lastly, are there any other files I would need to meddle with, just to ensure a smooth transition? Thanks in advance, guys. If you can hear yourself singing...the music ain't loud enough! |

If the files are moved/deleted/renamed the the information in the Winamp database is invalid. rating information will be lost. As well, if you do a lot of moving/renaming/deleting then you will have to rescan the Media Library.

An "export library" option, "migrate winamp" option or something to that effect would be great for people who have just purchased a new PC, had to format, or simply have done a clean install of winamp.

You could try this http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details/139248
Note: If you move your files around or rename your files after exporting, you will lose your stats again. |
