Hi 'yall,
used to be that Winamp (I forget which version, but it was way back in the late ´90:s), had a bug which manifested itself thus: if you deleted a file from the current play list, it was also deleted from your Hard Drive. I can see how this would have been annoying if you didn't know about it and weren't presented with a choice on installation, like: "Do you want Winamp to delete...yada yada". (I think Windblows mediaplayer currently has that 'feature' and gives you the choice). But as long as you can make an informed choice, and know what's going to happen, there is to me no better, quicker way of pruning your .mp3 library to your liking in real time. For me, anyway, it's sometimes hard to remember what files I want to get rid of after playing Winamp for an hour or so. So, my questions are: 1) does anybody remember what this Winamp version was and 2) is it still available? I'd gladly give my mothers right arm for a copy. (Quiet, bitch, quiet!) Thanks.

Can only be done from the Media Library.
Right click file(s) > Remove > Physically remove selected item(s) UJ |

If you want to physically delete files directly from the playlist, you can use DrO's Playlist File Remover.
Here's a screenshot of how to set up its preferences to physically delete files... ![]() *Note: you also have the added benefit of assigning a Ctrl+Shft+D shortcut too, if you want to. Don't email or PM me concerning Winamp. Instead, either start a NEW TOPIC or post a REPLY in the appropriate thread in these forums. This will also benefit others who may have a similar question or problem. But before posting, please first Search the forums and read all FAQs and all Sticky threads. Thanks Nunzio390, I'll go try it at once. Nice, instructive graphics btw! Again thanks.
PS: It sure is great to belong to this community - I have always received at least two, often more, pertinent, instructive, and well formulated answers. Sweet... Thank you all! "Hard work pays off in the future. Laziness pays off right now" |

I downloaded and installed the Playlist File Remover, added Nunzio390:s config suggestions - and now a song is deleted automatically when the next one starts playing, i.e. whithout any input from me.
So if I load 20 songs, and start playing from the top, shuffle disabled, after all 20 have played the playlist is empty. PFR really cleans up! Spring cleaning! But I must be doing something wrong, just don't know what as PFR is configured exactly as in their screenshot as well as in Nunzio390:s. What am I doing wrong? "Hard work pays off in the future.
