You can add an avatar (a pic on the left of your post) by going to your user control panel by clicking on the link above provided by Flexi. Click on "Edit Options" and scroll down to the bottom. You can change your avatar there.

To edit your signature, click on "Edit Profile".

The signature will become viewable after a certain amount of time and number of posts, so don't freak out when it doesn't show up. It's just a feature of the forums to keep spammers from showing links in their signatures. Urls in posts are the same way. Just don't post pump to get there.
