Winamp freezes when adding files to media library

Hello

I've been using winamp since version 2, and no bugs whatsoever. When i installed a CLEAN winamp5.54(unistalled winamp 2 completley-deletet from register), i have been experiencing problems constaltly.
When i try to add media to my library winamp freezes when trying to get information from media files (see attached picture)! It stays like this for indefinite time, so i must kill the process!
And one other error description: when i leave winamp open in idle(no song playing), the same thing happens, i think thats because the media library tryes to scan changes! Is it becasue incompatible file or something??
Please let me know, the BUG is really started to get in my nerves!!!

I am using:
Winamp 5.541
Windoes XP SP3
Motherboard: ConRoe 1333-D667
realtek sound cart integriert
ATI Radeon HD 2400 PRO
intel E2140 dual core 1,6GHz

p.s.: i am using Winamp 5.541 8august2008! it's clean install without any 3rd party plugins

I've got the same problem...

Go to: Winamp -> Prefs -> Media Library -> Local Media -> Watch Folders tab
and start the scan from there instead.

Find out which file it's freezing on and remove it.

Let us know what filetype it was, eg. mp3, wma (drm), avi, etc.
A link to a sample file which causes\exhibits the problem certainly wouldn't go amiss either...

Hi there, just thought you'd like to know i have the same problem. It freezes on a .wav file of an album i backed up with WMP 12.

i would suggest converting your wav to FLAC which is better and smaller and also lossless, and allows for proper tagging, and i bet you won't see the problem anymore.
