iPod Song List scrambled
First of all, this is probably a problem with the (included by default) pmp_ipod.dll plugin in particular, if it's a code problem at all. If this is the wrong place for that, I apologize.
Okay, what happens: I install WinAmp, install my library, connect my iPod. It connects, and apparently WinAmp interprets some of my tags differently than my last software, because it wants to delete 230 files and replace them with 230 other files when my library hasn't changed since last sync. What the hell, I let it. Then WinAmp goes "oh hey I can change these .ogg's to something the iPod can actually process", and I get to transfer those on too. Then I transfer some recently acquired music to my library, and it adds that to the iPod. I eject the thing from within Winamp when the transfer is complete, then unplug it. I go to my songs list, and it's all scrambled up. It's still sort of in alphabetical order...but it's in 9 or 10 different instances of alphabetical order, with A-Z repeating over and over with no rhyme or reason to which songs are in which list. All the other lists, however, are in the same order they should be. I tried plugging it back in, adjusting the way songs were displayed in Winamp and resyncing, to no avail. I tried looking around to see if the iPod itself had an option to reorder the list - it didn't. I googled around to see if I could find an answer to this problem, and didn't find one, so I'm posting here. I'm using the latest version of Winamp (5.551 x86) with a 160GB iPod Classic under Windows XP SP3. The pmp_ipod.dll plugin is the default that came with Winamp, v. 0.74. If there's any other information I can provide that will help you help me, please let me know. EDITING in other info the FAQ says I should have: this is in fact a clean install of Winamp with no 3rd-party plugins, set up from an administrator-rights account. I can provide a full list of plugins (by installing a 3rd-party plugin to do so) if necessary. So, what do I do now? |

I'm having the same problem. Please fix, Winamp team! It is a pain to go through each individual alphabetical sub-list in the Songs when I'm trying to find one by title!

I can't believe this hasn't been fixed yet.
I've been trying to find a solution to this all year, ever since i began using winamp with my ipod! There is only a few things that itunes does better, but this is definitely one of them. Along with ease of file tagging, and the fact that your library doesn't scroll to the top everytime you change something. Please fix these in the next release, then winamp will be perfect. |

have a look at http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?t=324573 and the update patches which are posted by DJ Egg / Benski to see if they help though iPod support is never going to be great (you get what you get for trying to use a closed system in a different program).

The updated patch does not fix the sorting issue. |
