A Few Video Playback Questions

Hello all,

I've been a long time Winamp user, but have generally only used it for audio files. I'm looking to see if Winamp can do what I am looking for since... well, VLC Media Player is lacking in some areas.

If you have any tips or thoughts on the following, please advise!
-- Is it possible to rate a video file while it is playing and the video window is full screen? I would like to use such a feature for reviewing purposes. Even better would be to delete a currently playing video file (and remove from library). It would of course have to stop playing before the file is deleted.
-- It would be nice if the Media Library for Video can have file properties such as "Date Created", "Date Modified", etc.
-- Is there any way to enable an OSD of the currently playing filename when the file starts?
-- Is there a way to clear the playlist when Winamp closes?

1. You can rate video files via Global Hotkeys:

Preferences > Global Hotkeys > 'Rate Current Item'.

The ratings will be saved in the library database and is visible in the library rating column or in the songticker/playlist depending on your ATF String.

2. You can add at least a 'Last Updated' Column, right click in the track view on the columns list and select 'customize columns'

3. Don't understand, Winamp has a video OSD which can show the file name, this too can depend on the used ATF string.

4. DrO's Time Restore and Autoplay plugin can load Winamp with a specific playlist.

Autoplay options > Extra Options > 'Load file / playlist /ml query when Winamp starts'

So you may simply could make, that it loads an empty playlist on each start, so your playlist is clear when Winamp starts.

The plugin is part of the Essentials Pack, take a look at my signature. But maybe someone has a better idea, hehe

I found the Global Hotkey settings for rating, but it didn't seem to work when the video tab was active or video was full screen.

The last updated column may be the same as "Date Modified", but "Date Created" would be preferred for me. They're not the same in my case.

Hmm, Global Hotkeys usually should work everywhere. I'll test it tomorrow and send feedback then.

Yeah take the missing column for Date Created to the long list of requested columns, which are in the wishlist, hehe.
