Despite that helpful insight, it's now been four months since this post and my brand new Droid 2 Global is having a similar problem most of the time. A song will play fine, even after I turn off the display, but a minute or two in and it acts just like I hit the stop button. I can wake it up and hit play again and it starts at the beginning of the track, or just hit play on my bluetooth headphones, if that's what I'm using. this happens with motorola bluetooth stereo headphones, Beats solo HD wired headphones, or plugged into the aux in jack in my car. Though sometimes if I hit play on my headphones to restart playback it will play just fine until I stop it.
I have 0.9.2b downloaded 3-6-11 on a droid 2 global running android 2.2 And having read a few posts in here I can say to tek your "it's beta, haha" garbage is about as funny, intelligent, and helpful as the clowns that post "first" on blogs, it's time to move on. |

Further experimentation found the cause, but not yet the solution. I was able to reproduce the effect, at exactly 2:00 after I hit play in the app and turned off my screen it would stop. If I hit play on my bt headphones without "waking up" the phone it would play and keep playing.
The app "Task Manager" has the ability to end running services on screen timeout (mine's set to, you guessed it, 2:00). Even though winamp is specifically excluded from it's kill list, and even though my screen was already off it seems to be killing the app. I removed all the music/sound/flash items from the list and it still did it, so I cleared the "kill on timeout" list completely and it fixed the issue for me. I'm going to add stuff back in small groups to try to figure out what caused this, it may take a while. |

I have the solution
It turns out that you have to exclude the Gallery app from the Auto-End list in task manager (and if you have advanced task killer or any other task manager installed, put it in that exclude list as well). I found that now the Music app that came with the Droid as well as Winamp will now play without stopping.
If anyone knows why Gallery getting killed would stop the music players, I would love to know. But all I know at this point is that now my music players work without stopping by themselves. |
