Sync and Autofill Bugs
I've got Win7 32 bit running WinAmp 5.601.
I'm running WinAmp for Android 0.9.2 on my Samsung Fascinate. BUG 1: WiFi sync seems to work for small transfers. However every time I try to autofill it gets stuck around 26% (around 400 files). In the transfer window the current file is stuck on "connecting". If left for hours this does not change at all. BUG 2: After performing the (incomplete) autofill, if I try to sync afterwards (since autofill inexplicably erases my previously synced songs) the sync window tells me that there are ~400+ songs (i.e. - all of my autofilled songs) on my phone that aren't in my media library. SUGGESTION 1: Fix all of the random selection algorithms. Nothing ever seems to be randomly selected. SUGGESTION 2: Add criteria to allow us to specify a maximum size (in MB, GB, hr:min, or # of songs) for SmartViews and then let us synchronize using them as well as regular playlists. SUGGESTION 3: Add a status bar notification to WinAmp Android that shows that status of autofill and sync operations. SUGGESTION 4: Add a button to WinAmp Android to initiate sync or autofill operations. My media server is headless and its a pain to have to remotely log in to it every time I want to sync/autofill. |

Sync and Autofill Bugs
I've experienced similar problems trying to sync with my Samsung Galaxy S. I'm not using autofill, but syncing via playlists. I noticed that the sync gets stuck on certain audio files. When I removed those files from the playlists, and tried to sync again, it could continue syncing.
Hope that Winamp can come up with a solution for this issue soon! I'm looking forward to using my Samsung Galaxy S as a music player with Winamp as the client, but the sync should be streamlined and seamless. Paul |

Fixing my Sync Issue
I had a similar issue. I had a song that it stopped on and it was because because there was a "," in the file name (either in the album, artist or title fields that are used for the file name and path on the device). I removed those characters and it worked.
Characters to avoid would be the following: / \ : | = ? " ; [ ] , ^ Some of them Winamp changes to an underscore, others it dosent. I would be nice if winamp changed it on the fly. Hope that helps, Lee |

Sounds like a need for a file name cleaner:
http://www.bsiusa.com/support/freeutilities.php The file cleaner probably only works in a single folder, but it might give someone the clues needed to write a tool that will drill down through multiple folders to clean all files. Ignore the 8.3 naming suggestion, never has bothered us in our station and we have some incredibly long file names. Your mileage may vary! |
