Open Mixer doesn't work

Hello, I have a couple of questions.

1. I saw the tutorial about music+mic being played at the same time. For this I have to enable "what you hear" in Shoutcast->Input->Sound Card->Open Mixer right?

When I click the Open Mixer button, nothing happens. Like the button would be dead.
I am using version 1.9.1 (because latest version for some reason won't connect to the server..)

2. In order to play music and talk on the mic at the same time, only the above is needed, or I need something else? I was reading over the web about stereo mix and stuff, but I guess this aint necessary?

It depends on what operating system you're on. Windows Vista/7 audio mixing is, at the least, questionable, if not downright bad.

Version 1.9.1 is not the currently supported version of the DSP.

To broadcast your voice (or other audio) with your stream audio using the SHOUTcast DSP you will need to select one of the other options (that does not say "Winamp (Recommended)") as the audio source in the SHOUTcast DSP. It is found by clicking the [Input] tab (at the top of the DSP window) and locating the "Input Device" selection box. After making that setting change you will then need to put the default input audio device (typically, your primary soundcard) in some kind of mixed mode. This is usually done by going to the sound devices panel and selecting (or dis-muting, depending on your audio drivers) "What U Hear" or "Stereo Mix" as the recording control.

With Windows Vista/7 the PTT features of the SHOUTcast DSP are problematic at best (as of this post.) And depending on the audio device's drivers it may not be possible on any version of Windows, including XP.

If you current soundcard drivers don't support some form of "Stereo Mix" or "What U Hear" then you will probably need to find an alternate solution to getting your voice heard on your stream.

That's probably because either you didn't configure it (or your server) correctly or you mis-keyed a setting somewhere. Without more details on your config, what else you attempted, or your logs, it will be further more difficult to assist you with your setup.

Without knowing what operating system you're on (and without using the latest version of the DSP) being able to assist you will similarly be problematic at best.

OK, I managed to connect with newest version finally. This is my setup:

OS Windows Home 7 64bit
Audio card Realtek HD
Winamp v5.601 (x84)
Server: SHOUTcast Server Version 1.9.8/Linux
Shoutcast Winamp plugin: v2.1.3

I enabled stereo mix, but in Sound card mode, nobody hears anything on the other side, neither winamp neither my mic. I guess I need to dive deeper in settings?

Help appreciated.

I don't know if this suggestion will work as I don't have Windows Vista/7 but try making the "Stereo Mix" device the default input device. From the screenshot you posted it looks like you still have the microphone selected as the default input device.

Then restart Winamp.

If after that you still can't select a "Capture Device" in the "Soundcard Mixer Control" settings in the DSP then you might have no choice but to either find a newer (or older) version of your soundcard drivers that supports it...



...or find a third-party solution.

Hah, thank you it worked! It's basically like this:
-stereo mix as default
-go to mic settings and tick "Listen to this device"
