Winamp Alternative

Im tired of winamp getting more laggy with every release, now i have to wait about 10 seconds everytime i want to listen to a song, i only installed last releases because of the memory of good old winamp, but im running out of respect for it now, screw it.

Anyone know any good alternative to winamp ?? i prefer players that dont install useless crap on my pc or any kind of system gorbage.

thanks in advance.

Plain and simple solution

only install those things you want to use , if you don't have any use for certain parts , simply uncheck them.

Winamp runs like lightning so it must be options you installed that cause this or your computer is causing this.
Do check the memory usage of other applications and off course of the winamp player

there are different things to do to reduce lag in winamp:
a) perform a clean install - no plugin
b) install minimal visualization
c) change skin to classic - but you will lose the snazzy bento skin
d) configure winamp in the options - uncheck database scanning at start etc

Actually I noticed that my winamp is far snappier on launch compared to the previous version. And I did not even perform a clean install - just installed what I really needed - no visualization plugins etc

winamp is plenty fast for me, but if i didn't use it i might try media monkey or foobar.
