Search by album-artist

Dear developers,

Could we please get the option to search by album-artist?

Who agrees with me that we miss this option and would like to have it?

Afterthought: I would also like to suggest a search by entering a string, like (part of) the artist name, album title or track title, same as we can on the Windows version.

ABSOLUTELY AGREE !!


Here is explanation why:

My collection, as many peoples collection is, is huge and well organised by all categories. It covers many types of CD releases, mainly Albums, Compilations, Movie Soundtracks, and Remixes of albums composed by more than one artist.

1. Sorting by ALBUM is not best because I have 363 albums. Its a huge list to go through, and in alphabetical order, which is ok, but still a huge list.

Sorting by ARTIST is closest best thing, but FAR FROM GOOD! Not best way at all.
One artist appears in so many released CDs, such as sound tracks, compilations, and similar releases that list becomes huge for one artist, and quite ugly. If I want to look up one artist, i prefer to see only His or hers albums, and not every CD where their song came out on, such as sound tracks, and compilations. This lists same songs many times when sorted like this. No good.

Also, on my primary browsing category list, I do not want to see every artist name of every song of my Compilations, and sound tracks. Half of them i don't even know who they are :-)

3.
Genres. Who uses that more than once in a never while? :-)

Browsing by Songs - You gotta be crazy. Who wants to look at, and scroll down the list of thousands of songs.

So,

I figured quickly that grouping/sorting my collection by ALBUM ARTIST is best way. And the most practical way, without ruining existing categories. Editing ALBUM ARTIST title to what makes most seance.

Basically, name of the ALBUM ARTIST should be titile of the CD or whatever.

For example, ALBUM ARTIST for soundtracks can be title of the FILM, and for compilations it would be TITLE OF THE CD (ex. Best of 1960s)

Without asking for too much ( hope) can you guys add couple of more ways to sort music collection by that are already available in Winamp for windows.

please make it heppen. Its the main thing thats missing for large collections of music on android platforms.

it definitely needs better "album artist" support and i have documented on here all the defaults that need made to windows winamp to take AA into account when xferring, either by wifi or USB.
