How can I use ffdshow audio codec with Winamp?
Hi, everyone. I use Winamp 5.63, and wonder how can I set Winamp to use ffdshow audio codec package with Winamp while playing audio files? FFdshow has several interesting tools and enhancements unavailable in Winamp.
From what I've read in some forums, you need to add or change a value in DirectShow plugin options, but it's not possible because this plugin doesn't exist in Winamp anymore either. Is it still possible to associate Winamp with ffdshow while playing audio files? Thanks in advance. Info: OS: Windows 7 Home Premium x64 Winamp version: 5.63 x86 ffdshow-tryouts version: 1.3.4500 x64 Last edited by ksio.amaral89; 5th April 2013 at 20:55. |

The DirectShow plug-in (Nullsoft DirectShow Decoder) is still included with Winamp and can be found in the Input section under Plugins in Winamp options. If you don't see it there, try reinstalling Winamp and in the Choose Components section (page/window four) of the installer and make sure that 'DirectShow formats' is check-marked under 'MultiMedia Engine' > 'Video Playback' in the features tree.

Oh, found it, thanks! Don't use Winamp to watch videos (even though it's a great video player too), so I usually unselect Video Playback options when (re)installing Winamp. With DirectShow plug-in enabled again, I'll google how to have Winamp use ffdshow while playing audio or video files. Thanks again for the answer.
