It's so annoying, I keep getting email notifications that somebody posted something in some thread I visited. And if I go and change the default email notification setting in my profile, I keep getting them! What can I do?

When you change your profile to 'turn off' email notification, check to see the next time you reply to something that in your reply post the email notification is turned off there as well (it's under the 'Your Reply' box).

That little box is very very gay indeed. It should be automatically unchecked.

By editing your profile. Select "yes" next to "Hide Email Address:
Clicking yes hides your email address in your public profile, so that it is not accessible by other users."

Fortunately, every one of these buttons serve a purpose.
Least it's not as complex as the dashboard of a Boeing 747, we'd have to train each and every registered user in a forum simulator before allowing them to post.

Yes, but most of these new "features" are just there for their own sake, It's not like I'm going to use them all.

Like someone else said, It's just eyecandy for the sake of eyecandy, And IMO it doesn't add to functionality.

Who needs all these new features anyway? what was wrong with the old forums?

wouldn't be a bad idea to do now.

ampburner: the old forums were nuking threads, and infopoop was clueless on how to fix those problems.

I'd like to meet a mad man who makes it all seem sane
To work out all these troubles and what there is to gain

I do.
And another thing that was wrong with the old forums was that doing a multi-forum search was painfully slow.
And also UBB put a limit of four mods per forum, and only those four mods could mess with stuff in that particular forum.

Not that this would be issue for Nullsoft, but isn't UBB horribly expensive compared to vBulletin (which is like 85 bucks). vBulletin seems more robust with the MySQL database n' such.
