ShoutCast server Issue
Hello,
I'm sorry in advance if this is a simple issue. I've been struggling with this problem a while now and haven't been able to resolve it. So I'm reaching out for a little help. I've set up a ShoutCast server and it lets me connect my stream. The server appears to be okay with the open ports in my case that be 8000 and 8001 it talks with YP2 fine. But when I try to connect to the stream to listen nothing works. I'm not sure what information anyone needs to help with this so I'm open to ideas. Any help in getting this to work would be appreciated. My stream is currently listed under DJ Arhua. Many thanks. |

start with the easy stuff ... is the SC server local or hosted elsewhere..
when you try to connect to the server what happens? any errors locally or on server end? Megarock Radio - St. Louis Since 1998! Don't click this link! Corporate Radio Sucks! No suits, all rock! |

the description of the issue sounds like an authhash possibly hasn't been generated for the stream (though am not sure if there's a reference to it talking to YP2 fine). though i'm not able to find a stream listed with 'DJ Arhua' as it's name.
is best to firstly use v2.2 (http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?t=373139) and then ensure you've not got something like /test.aac as the streampath if it's an MP3 based stream (that is one of the other common issues). |

Yes Sorry about the stream not being up I took it down last night when I updated the server to 2.2 which brought up some other issues that I think I fixed.
The SC server is on a separate PC on my network. Sam connects fine to it and I guess it would help if I provided a little more information on what I've done. The Modem/Router is Port Forwarding to that PC's Internal IP address so Ports 8000 and 8001 I updated the Auth has when I launch the server it gives me this. Note I get a warning because I put StreamURL==http://173.32.74.36:8000 in the sc_serv because it seems when I don't YP can't see the server ? ------------------ 2013-10-20 18:27:42 WARN [CONFIG] Invalid item on line 10 of sc_serv.conf -> `streamurl' 2013-10-20 18:27:42 INFO 2013-10-20 18:27:42 INFO *************************************************************** 2013-10-20 18:27:42 INFO ** SHOUTcast Distributed Network Audio Server (DNAS) 2013-10-20 18:27:42 INFO ** Copyright (C) 1999-2013 Nullsoft, Inc. i've just tried connecting to the listing (@2:30 GMT+1) and via the site link and a separate player it all worked fine. the site player just shows 'fade to black' as the title and no artist information which matches with what is coming from the DNAS so unless it was a timing issue, it all looks and sounds ok to me.
the socket error thing is normal for v2.0 and was debug output that was incorrectly left enabled and freaks everyone out (as it's just indicating the connection stopping between the DNAS and the client). |

Yeah I just tuned into my Network IP address and It's working, as well had a few others test it... Seems to work fine now.
Go figure the second I ask for help it starts to work :P could also be that I switched it to 2.2. Thanks everyone for the help though

shifting to v2.2 should have helped with most of the issues you were having with v2.0.
if anything, i'd have to suspect you were maybe a bit too quick to try to connect to it after updating to v2.2 and not everything it does automatically now had completed which could explain not being able to connect to it until a bit later (as it does the authhash generation, etc for you now which adds a few seconds to the first-time process). at least you're sorted now which is the main thing. |
