YP Metadata Puller + Multiple Relays
I've been using 2 relay servers for several years but since both are listener slot based I never paid much attention to which relay server listeners were being connected to through the SHOUTcast site player.
However, I recently added a third bandwidth based relay server and have noticed that all listeners through the SHOUTcast site player are solely being redirected to this one which is eating up the bandwidth. At first I thought maybe the site player only redirects to the last connected relay for some reason so I restarted one of the other servers to change up the order but no luck. What determines which relay server the SHOUTcast site player connects to? Why doesn't it evenly distribute the listeners? Is there a way to prevent it from connecting to a relay server? Thanks for any help. |

it'll be whichever one is deemed to have the best listener to capacity ratio - which sounds like it's always going to be the new one for the time being for you.
it's not possible to have it listed and ignored from the listing. |

Thanks DrO for the response.
The slot based relays are a max of 50 while the bandwidth based relay is a max of 500 so listeners will always be connected to the new one even though there are empty slots on the other ones. In only a few days I've already used up close to 25% of the monthly bandwidth. Why not have the listener be connected to a random relay server and then redirected to another if the first one is full? The current setup seems to benefit the bandwidth provider over the broadcaster. |

is just due to how it was all done. the whole thing needs to be improved to be smart about things as just randomly picking is still more likely going to favour one or more than the others.
