sc_serv.exe closes as soon as i open it
I'm done with the conf files, but whenever i open sc_serv.exe it opens for a split second and then closes. Any fixes?

without knowing what is causing it to abort, it's hard to provide a fix or what you may need to be doing instead.
the best thing is to run the DNAS via the command-line so you can then see what error is being reported. alternatively look for the sc_serv.log file (assuming you've left the default log filename to use - which might be in the Windows temp folder). also make sure that you're doing it with the current DNAS release (as you've not said what version you're trying to use). |

Streaming URL already in use?
I got my server set up today and It's working with this ip (http://127.0.0.1:8000/) on winamp, but when I go to the control panel for my radio and click the stream url (http://108.170.141.46:8000/) It asks me for a password for "spa user." If you press cancel it says 401 Unauthorized! in red text and in times new roman. Also, the name of the page is "Cisco SPA Configuration". I'm stumped here.

i've merged the 2 threads you've made as it is easier to track your issues in one thread.
so what was the issue causing the DNAS not to work ? as for the newer error you're seeing, that is not a DNAS error and is seemingly related to a Cisco router (which i'm going to have to assume is going to be causing you a number of other issues). as you'll also need to ensure that as you're likely trying to get this working from a home setup, that port 8000 is opened on the router in-order to have the DNAS publically seen (which is not done at the moment and I'm also seeing that same error page). |

Okay, I've successfully port forwarded port 8000. What do I do next?

Wait... I checked the logs before... It said "Port 8000 already in use"... Is this whats making my server private?

Yeah, that was the issue. Thanks!
I'll try to open up port 8000. Port forwarding, right? I don't own a Cisco router. I own a D-Link one. |

i just had a quick look and that Cisco thing might be related to a VOIP / phone setup.
so yes, the port already in use error is the reason for everything (and now makes sense why i merged the threads). the easiest option might be (if you don't know what the Cisco thing is or have control over it i.e. due to your ISP or something else that I cannot guess what it might be) is to pick a different port to run the DNAS on and port forward that instead of 8000 e.g. 8080 or 80 (which is typically not viable if you've got a normal web-server already running) or anything else that you prefer. |

you change the 'portbase' configuration option (is covered in the docs).

have you opened up port 8080 ? if not, you need to work out that thing already running on port 8000 is and either stop / change that if you want the DNAS to run on port 8000. otherwise, there's not much else I can suggest other than making sure that whatever port you decide to use is a) not used by something else and b) is correctly configured to be opened via a TCP mapping rule on both the router and also in any OS based firewall.

In that context, it covers
a) port forwarding on a router - which you say you've done b) port opening on a firewall on the machine running DNAS - which you have not mentioned "If you don't like DNAS, write your own damn system" So I did |
