Okay - so when you search for a skin, and it comes up as [0-4 out of 150] and click NEXT to see the rest, it ALWAYS comes up "We're sorry, your search did not return any results."
This is very sad for certain people whose skins aren't one of the first four... What can I do?

1. Wait for them to finally get around to fixing that part of the site. Should happen sometime within this century.
or: 2. Play around with the URL that clicking on NEXT takes you to. That URL should originally look something like this: http://www.winamp.com/customize/brow...set=5&howMany= I believe the key is to add the letter "S" after the "&componentFlag=" part if you want to look for skins (or the letter "P" if you want to look for plug-ins). For example, you would make the above URL into: http://www.winamp.com/customize/brow...set=5&howMany= While you're at it, you can fool around with other options. For one thing, you can set how many skins or plug-ins to view per page by adding a number at the end of the URL. For example, to view 25 entries per page, you would change the URL to: http://www.winamp.com/customize/brow...t=5&howMany=25 You can tell it how far through the list of results you want to start displaying the results changing the number after the "&offset=" part. For example, typing in "50" would skip over the first 50 results of the search, and typing in "0" would make it not skip over any. Examples: http://www.winamp.com/customize/brow...=50&howMany=25 http://www.winamp.com/customize/brow...t=0&howMany=25 You can also limit your search to a specific category by typing in the relevant name (Five+Star, 3D, Anime, Consumption, Car, Human, Computer/OS, Futuristic, Game, Movies, Retro, Sports, Stereo, Stylish, University, Web+Site, TV, or Music for skins; Five+Star, Windowed, Full+Screen, 3D, General, DSP/Effect, Input, Output, Commercial, Language+Packs, Games, or AVS+presets for plug-ins) after the "&categoryName=" part. So to limit the search to Five Star skins, you would change that last URL to: http://www.winamp.com/customize/brow...t=0&howMany=25 And if you want to change the words that you're searching with, then instead of typing in the term(s) in the search box and clicking on NEXT (or copying the link's location to the address bar) and then editing it, you can just change the search terms directly from the URL by changing what comes after the "searchTerm=" part of the URL. For example, if you wanted to search for "doodie" instead of "whatever" (all the above examples were searches for "whatever"), and let's say you want to limit your search to the "Consumption" category, and you want to start from the beginning of the results list, and want to display 50 skins per page, you would change the URL to: http://www.winamp.com/customize/brow...t=0&howMany=50 Note that if you want to search for multiple terms, you'll need to separate the terms with a "+". So a search for "mister poopie" with the same parameters as the last example would look like this: http://www.winamp.com/customize/brow...t=0&howMany=50 BTW, once you've added the "S" or the "P" to the URL (and hit Enter to go to the page the new URL takes you to), clicking on NEXT should actually work. So at least you don't have to revise the URL between each and every page for any given search. |
